Cultivation Plan for Law Major (The Cultivation Experimental Class for International Excellent Law Professionals)

Section One Goals of Cultivation
  The Cultivation Plan is student-oriented, aiming at cultivating young legal professionals, who are planning to practice in the future, with persistent belief, good virtue, abundant knowledge, qualified skills, inter-disciplinary knowledge structure of law, finance and accounting, mathematical statistics, excellent foreign language proficiency, background of study abroad and international perspective.  
Section Two Standards of Cultivation
Political Consciousness and Professional Ethics
  Students shall love the People’s Republic of China, uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and be accomplished in the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Students shall be prepared to devote themselves to the Socialist Modernization and the public, shall have the ambition and sense of responsibility to strive for the prosperity of our country, shall maintain international perspective, and innovative notion and team-working spirit, and shall possess merits such as devotion, perseverance, diligence, law-abiding and cooperation as well as good notion of Rule of Law, social and professional ethics.
Professional Ability and Competence
The primary objective of this major is to learn fundamental theories and knowledge of law, receive basic training of legal thought and legal practice, and to have the rudimentary ability of analyzing problems by using legal theories and methodologies and solving problems through application of law.
The graduates should have the skills below:
Understanding the fundamental theories and knowledge of law. Having basic knowledge about humanities and natural science as well as management.
Mastering fundamental skills and methodologies of law.
Having a general idea of theoretical frontiers of legal research and the trends towards legal system construction.
Familiarizing relevant legislations in China and policies of Communist Party, bearing clear conscious of current situation of China, having broad international perspective.
(5) Having the ability of identifying and solving problems by using legal knowledge and innovative legal thoughts.
(6) Grasping basic skills of information retrieval and data searching, having capacity of involving in scientific research and practical work.
(7) Majoring in law, surrounded by the comprehensive knowledge structure of Finance and Accounting, Mathematical Statistics and English.
(8) Proficiency in English, mastering a foreign language other than English, being capable of communicating with foreigners. 
Body Fitness
  Students shall have basic knowledge of physics and military and basic skills of exercises, have good habits of physical exercises and sanitation. Students shall receive sufficient military training, meet the physical and military training requirements for college students and have a healthy mind and body. Students should be capable of serving the obligations of constructing and safeguard our motherland.
Section Three Main Subject 
  Bachelor of Law
Section Four Duration of Study
    The fundamental duration of study is 4 years. A flexible study mechanism is implemented according to the requirement of credit point regulations. The maximum duration of study in campus is 6 years. The opportunities of overseas study for at least one semester are provided for students in undergraduate time. The credits gained in overseas study are recognized by the School. Some outstanding students will be recommended to further study in some overseas universities for Master Degrees. Before going abroad, candidates should meet the requirement of the English level and Grade Point Average (GPA), as well as additional standards proposed by foreign cooperating universities. Students are required to learn a foreign language other than English.
Section Five: Degree Awarding 
  Students will be awarded the undergraduate certificate as well as bachelor degree issued by East China University of Political Science and Law  if the study duration is completed and requirement is met.
Section Six: General Specialized Curriculum
General Public Curriculum: Introduction to Politics, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Management, Basics of Computer Application etc.
General specialized curriculum: major legal courses and common law courses in English, including Jurisprudence, History of Chinese Legislation, History of Foreign Legislation, Common Law Study, Administrative Law (including Administrative Procedure Law), General Principles of Civil Law, General Provisions of Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Law of Procedures, Economical Law, Commercial Law, Taxation Law, Corporation Law (bilingual), Public International Law, Private International Law, General Introduction to International Economics Law, Training on Judicial Document ( Legal Writing and Legal Research) and the compulsory workshop of reading group on International Law and Finance ( reading books concerning Trust Law, Insurance Law, Banking Law, Commercial Instrument Law, Taxation Law etc.)
Distinctive Specialized Courses
(1).Finance and Accounting: Study of Financial Market (Bilingual), International Finance (Bilingual), Accounting (Bilingual), Corporate Finance.
(2). Mathematical Statistics: Economic Mathematics, Applied Statistics.
(3).Practice of Finance Law: Legal Practice of Business Law,Practice of Comparative Contract Law, Practical Research on Financial Crime.
Section Seven:  Main Process and Arrangement for Practical Teaching 
The process of practical teaching includes Moot Court, Discussion about Complicated and Controversial Cases, Argumentation on Special Topics, Legal Consulting, Social Survey, Professional Practices, Professional Internship, 14-week Graduation Internship, Term Paper and Dissertation.

Section Eight: Credit Points Requirement
    The students of this major should be qualified for graduation by getting 166 credits (Other regulations are applied to students from Hong Kong, Macaw and Taiwan and foreign country), which includes Theoretical Courses for 150 credits, Practice Courses for 16 credits. In theoretical course, General Education Courses for 63 credits, General Education of Restricted Selective Courses for 11 credits, Professional Specialized Courses for 59 credits, Professional Restricted Selective Courses for 12 credits and Arbitrary Selective Courses for 5 credits are mandatory.
